Passive Mode

In the passive mode, a client sends the PASV command instead of the PORT command when connected to an FTP server, and have the server to specify the data channel port. Instead of using a fixed port number, the security is considered somewhat higher. Some servers accept only the passive mode while others accept only the normal mode. Many servers accept both passive and normal modes. It is also called the PASV mode or Passive FTP.
